History of the Long Beach Law Firm of Cantrell Green Lo

Founding Partners –

Marilyn Green and Dick Cantrell formed Cantrell and Green in 1971, a law firm devoted to the representation of disabled workers. While other firms were turning to advertising to boost business, Dick and Marilyn trusted in the long-term rewards of referrals from satisfied clients. They built the most respected workers’ compensation firm in the Long Beach area and, as time passed, one of the most respected in California. It was their conviction, one that prevails today, that our firm’s success depends on our ability to give our clients the best legal representation possible.  Although Mr. Cantrell died in 1992 and Mrs. Green in 2015, their belief in protecting the rights of injured workers lives on in each of our attorneys.

Don Pekich was invited to become a partner at Cantrell and Green in 1981. He, Marilyn Green and Dick Cantrell created a unique team of legal representatives with varied backgrounds in union representation, as well as being endorsed and recommended by numerous law enforcement and firefighter organizations throughout California. Mr. Pekich retired in 2005 but still joins us frequently to exchange thoughts on current law and politics, and occasionally can be seen handling a deposition if our attorneys are caught in a calendar conflict that cannot be avoided.

Mario CruzMario Cruz joined the firm in 1985, and was made a partner in 1992. He retired in 2022 after 30 years of serving injured workers. Mario grew up in Chicago and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Cruz speaks Spanish fluently, and is the founder and an officer of Latino Comp, an organization of workers’ compensation professionals, and a member and former board member of the Mexican-American Bar Association.

Mr. Cruz is certified by the State Bar as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist, and is also a member of the Board of Governors of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association. CLICK HERE for Attorney Mario Cruz’ Full Biography.
